Study: Dipyrone, also called metamizole, versus acetaminophen/paracetamol for pain after third-molar extraction in Brazil. 12
Design and measurements: The completed record lists 30 actual participants, 15 per treatment, aged 18–35. The research regimens were dipyrone 500 mg every six hours or paracetamol 750 mg every six hours, assessed over 48 hours. Participants also received dexamethasone 4 mg before surgery, an important cointervention. 12
Record inconsistency: The structured field labels allocation nonrandomized, but the narrative says participants were randomly assigned. The study was open-label, with repeated ordinal pain measurements. Without resolving the allocation discrepancy or verifying outcome data, it is not defensible to claim that either drug was superior. These are historical protocol doses, not individualized prescribing advice. 12
