Source and claim checks
Trace scientific claims to a primary study, official regulator material or an attributed firsthand announcement. A press release is labeled as a release. An abstract is not represented as a complete paper review. The source log records what was accessible and when it was checked.
Describe the population, intervention, comparator where applicable, endpoint, result, follow-up and relevant harms. Unknown information remains unknown. Do not infer the absence of harms from an abstract that omits them.
Scope and headlines
Do not turn an animal result into a human result; a study launch into a successful study; designation into approval; an immune response into proven clinical benefit; or a narrow indication into a universal treatment. A headline must remain supportable after its adjectives are removed.
Use historical dates honestly. A page receives a substantive update date only when its verified content changes. A correction is labeled as a correction rather than disguised as routine freshness.
Editorial responsibility
Automated tools may assist with finding candidates, organizing evidence, drafting and checking consistency. Medicine Signal Editorial Desk remains responsible for the published page and for tying material claims to the sources shown to readers.
We do not use a doctor's name, credentials or a “medically reviewed” label unless that person actually took part and the page identifies their role accurately.
Commercial separation
Advertising is visibly labeled. A sponsor can check its own factual advertising copy, not approve an editorial verdict. Commercial consideration never determines whether a safety result or correction is included.
Rights and imagery
Use original artwork or appropriately licensed material. Open access to a page does not automatically grant permission to reuse every figure. Conceptual imagery must not masquerade as a photograph of an experimental outcome. This edition uses typographic and abstract design, not invented patient imagery.
Updates and complaints
