This was a mechanistic study of dopamine function in anorexia nervosa before and after weight restoration. The New York State Psychiatric Institute record describes an observational case-control study with 50 actual participants and a completed status in its April 2016 update. 12

Participants with anorexia nervosa and healthy comparison participants underwent brain imaging. The protocol used [11C]raclopride PET, MRI, and a methylphenidate challenge to investigate dopamine signaling. Repeat assessment in the anorexia group was planned two to four weeks after weight restoration. 12

Methylphenidate was a research probe here, not an established treatment for anorexia. The verified record establishes the design and enrollment; numerical imaging results were not verified. It therefore cannot support a claim that a dopamine abnormality was demonstrated, normalized, or made into a diagnostic test. 12
